Prof. Amartya Awasthi is a seasoned professional with over 14 years of broad experience at the intersection of energy, environment, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Previously, he worked as a Senior Program Manager and Climate Tech VC Senior Associate at Climate Collective Foundation, where he co-authored a sector report on climate-focused investments and managed initiatives like the Climate Seeders Club. As an entrepreneur and independent consultant from 2018 to 2021, he led various advisory projects, including a study for energy SMEs in Tanzania and administrative reforms for a provincial renewable energy agency in India.
At the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), he was the India Program Lead for Cooling & Efficiency, spearheading national policy advocacy and implementing India's first mandatory ECBC compliance system in Hyderabad. His work at Mynergy Renewables Pvt. Ltd. involved business development and advisory roles, securing significant cash flows through Solar PPA contracts and structuring a credit line for rural microgrids. During his tenure at cKinetics Consulting Services, he focused on sustainability advisory, demonstrating significant resource efficiency savings and establishing a new analytics practice.
Earlier in his career, he was an Applications Engineer at KLA Corporation, leading multimillion-dollar product evaluations and developing marketing content for a high-tech venture. He also worked as an Assistant Manager at Birla Surya Ltd., contributing to the commissioning of India’s first vertically integrated solar PV manufacturing facility.
Prof. Amartya holds an MTech in Solid State Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, graduating with a CGPA of 9.55/10 and receiving the Institute Merit Prize and Medal. He also earned an MSc in Physics with a specialization in Photonics, achieving a perfect CGPA of 5.0/5.0, and a BSc. Hons in Physics, both from the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. His academic excellence is marked by several awards, including the Dr. G. Venkatraman Gold Medal.
