Gorityala Veera Mahendra

Shri. Gorityala Veers Mahendar is a seasoned professional in the energy sector with a distinguished career spanning over tfoiur decades. He served as the Member (Economic & Finance) and Ex-Officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India at the Central Electricity Authority from November 2020 to May 2022, where he played a pivotal role in financial and economic decision-making. Concurrently, he held the position of Member (Planning) with additional charge at the Central Electricity Authority from May 2021 to August 2021, overseeing strategic planning initiatives.

Concurrently, he held the position of Member (Planning) with additional charge at the Central Electricity Authority from May 2021 to August 2021, overseeing strategic planning initiatives. 
He was Member of National Nuclear Power Tariff Committee from August 2022 to March 2024.
Prior to these roles, he was the Chief General Manager (Technical) at REC Limited (Rural Electrification Corporation Limited) from December 2013 to November2020, contributing in developing financial products, policies, grading and guidelines, was also part of Saunhagya Mission. His extensive experience also includes a tenure as Additional General Manager at NTPC Limited (National Thermal Power Corporation) from November 2004 to December 2013, and as Joint Director (Tariff & Engineering) at A.P Electricity Regulatory Commission from November 1999 to November 2004. He began his illustrious career at NTPC Limited, where he joined as an Engineering Executive Trainee in September 1983 and advanced to the position of Manager by November 1999.
Academically, he holds a Master in Development Management (MDM) focusing on Development Economics, Development Finance, and Policy Projects Development from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, Philippines, obtained in 1993. Additionally, he earned an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Osmania University, Telangana, in 1991 and a Bachelor of Engineering from University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Telangana, in 1983. He was Asian Development Bank Scholarship awardee.
